As more and more of daily business operations make their way into the cloud, competent and responsive technical support is becoming increasingly important across industries. For many large businesses or companies who operate in the tech sphere, this is less of a challenge. For others the idea of providing in-house support to either their employees or their customers is not even up for consideration. For these businesses third party IT hosting is likely the best option.

Convenience

One advantage of third party support is the fact that one company can provide the necessary assistance for all applications, software, and hardware that are in use. For many businesses this would mean being able to scrap the database of necessary IT numbers, containing at least one for each product. Instead they would be replaced with one, comprehensive point of contact where employees and customers would be able to receive support for any problem they might encounter, whether it impacts one application or several interdependent systems.

When technical support is provided through the product manufacturer, incentives are offered to the IT workers for upgrading and upselling, meaning that support is often intertwined with sales. When trying to solve a problem, few people want to be pressured to purchase unnecessary upgrades or newer versions of a failing product. This is an annoyance that will never come up with a third party.

Competence

Manufacturer support centers are often staffed by tech professionals, but in some cases the first point of contact is actually just a customer service professional, who is given a block of hurried training right at the beginning of their employment. Continuing training consists of short, cursory overviews of updates and new versions of the product and new buzzwords to memorize.

Companies who offer technical support across multiple product types and manufacturers hire IT professionals who have been trained over the course of their career, not only to understand how various aspects of modern technology work and interact, but the problem solving skills necessary to adapt to issues that aren’t specifically detailed in the documentation right in front of them.

Since this kind of service is their primary or only focus, these companies will also have developed multiple channel support options. Whether a business prefers telephone support, live chat support, ticket submissions, or a combination of all possible options, these businesses will have a system in place to respond in whatever way is best for their customers.
