Huawei Cloud hosted COMPASS this month in Shenzhen and Dongguan, China, its annual congress dedicated to Latin America. 2026’s event had 150 attendees, comprising of key public sector decision-makers, business leaders, industry experts, and technology partners from the region.

CEO of Huawei Cloud, Dr. Peter Zhou, told the group that the company has become the go-to cloud for the region’s organisations. Huawei Cloud has the broadest coverage from the greatest number of Regions in Latin America. It’s also the fastest-growing cloud provider in the Latin America region.

Huawei Cloud works with private organisations, partners, national and local public sectors, and major organisations in just about every sector. Its growth and investment in solutions combining public cloud flexibility and hybrid cloud security is meeting the needs of an even wider range of its customers, Dr. Zhou said.

Solving Latin America’s business challenges needs deep, per-industry focus, and Huawei Cloud combines the best practices from China and RoW in providing just that, he said, achieving compliant change with remarkable levels of security and resilience.

The Latin American people and Huawei’s five strengths

Daniel Zhou, President of Huawei Latin America, reiterated the uptime metrics of the company’s cloud services, coming to the rostrum with some more human-centric figures of his own. By the end of 2025, Huawei directly employed 4,400 people in Latin America, and indirectly, around 100,000 jobs have been created thanks to the company’s operations (in several countries, Huawei is the top employer). With major clients in governments and utilities, and the consumer, finance, and retail sectors, one of the reasons for success is the company’s 24/7 native-language support, helping end-users with issues and keeping entire organisations running smoothly.

Huawei provides its products and services to the region on the basis of five inherent strengths, Mr Zhou said. It provides AI (in the forms of infrastructure, Model-as-a-Service, and agentic AI platforms), a hybrid cloud technology stack (letting users spread AI across on-premise and cloud), its presence among local economies’ largest organisations (including government, finance and retail operators), the proven uptime of its services, and Huawei’s customer-first approach – epitomised by that native-speaking support.

Customer focus for success

That latter strength was expanded on by Mark Chen, the President of Huawei Cloud Latin America. He said customer satisfaction ratings had increased to 92 points according to an independent, third-party survey taken in the region, with 83.4% of users happy to recommend Huawei Cloud. Local hires were up 10% in 2025, and the company has boosted its internal training programmes to increase the number of Chinese staff bilingual in Spanish and Portuguese.

Huawei Cloud is expanding faster overall than any of its hyperscale competitors in Latin America, Mr Chen said, and partner revenues grew at an average of 50% in the last year.

The under the auspices of the saying,”alone we go fast, together we go far,” Chen said that its many existing and new business partners in Latin America have contributed to a shared path to sustainability and success. It’s Huawei Cloud’s ‘1+3’ solution that’s behind many of the success stories: One cloud solution combining with AI, application modernisation, and big data.

Customers and users at SMU (the Chilean retail leader), Claro (the region’s leading telecoms provider), and Dataprev (Brazil’s leading public sector IT company) can attest to the efficacy of the 1+3 solution, Mr Chen said.

The complete digital and AI stories

In the area of the fastest-developing technology of the time, artificial intelligence now impacts nearly 90% of enterprises’ daily operations, said Tim Tao, President of Huawei Cloud Solution Sales. Huawei Cloud has helped its customers upgrade their infrastructure and offerings in over 30 industries across Latin America, deploying AI in over 500 scenarios.

Government organisations have been focusing on digitising services, optimising and improving their data layers and underlying infrastructure, and using smart governance technologies to ensure citizen and employee digital safety.

Financial institutions have moved legacy, on-premise systems to the cloud, including core transactional processing, and retailers continue to use cloud to streamline their omnichannel promotional activities. AI-powered customer service functions have also helped improved user experiences in the sector.

Many of these migrations and digital advances stem from Huawei Cloud’s offerings, Mr Tao said. He named AI DataLake, TaurusDB, ModelArts, AgentArts, CodeArts, and the activities of the Huawei Cloud Foundation as among those used in Latin America (and all over the world) to improve operations and increase efficiency. By using Huawei’s multimodal and dedicated, industry-specific AI models with other elements from the Huawei portfolio, any organisation can shift from manual processes to digital efficiency in the quickest and most low-friction way.

Conclusions

COMPASS is Huawei Cloud’s annual, Latin America-focused event, considered an important indicator of the region’s digital progress. Big names like Dataprev and Stefanini work alongside Huawei Cloud, joining local enterprises and governments in the shared exercise of digitisation, deploying some of the very latest in technology in partnership with Huawei.

The transformative power of partnerships between Huawei Cloud, resellers, distributors, and end-users is being applied to economies and businesses right across Latin America. No other technology partner or hyperscaler offers the range of proven, reliable, business-centred services. The COMPASS event puts the evidence of digital success in Latin America into the public domain, and helps educate and inspire the next wave of change-makers.
