Dell jumps onto the cloud bandwagon with VMware

Dell is the latest organisation to take the plunge into the cloud after announcing its new data-storage rental service, due to be rolled out later this year.

After months of rumours circulating about when Dell would be cloud-bound, the announcement came during the VMworld virtualization and cloud conference in Las Vegas this week where Dell said that it was finally taking the plunge.

American Idol, Blockbuster, and Microsoft 365: Innovate or Die

Steve Jobs steps down as Apple boss after announcing iCloud

Apple CEO Steve Jobs has resigned from his post with his last announcement being the launch of the iCloud.

On Friday, Jobs resigned in a letter to employees despite hopes that he would resume his post full time following appearances at the launch of the iPad 2 and more recently, the unveiling of the iCloud. However having been on sick leave since January and undergoing a liver transplant he conceded that it was time to take a rest.

Acer launches Cloud Competency Centre

A new cloud hub for businesses called the Acer Cloud Competency Centre has launched this week.

Computer supremo, Acer announced its new centre based in Taoyuan in Taiwan, the company's data centre. It aims to be the new cloud destination designed to run cloud solutions for enterprises in addition to high performance computing tasks.
