Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Swedish telecoms provider Ericsson had bought a majority stake in platform as a service (PaaS) provider Apcera.
The deal, to close in Q4, sees Ericsson strengthen its position in the cloud market. Apcera will continue as a standalone company, with Ericsson shoving funds into Apcera’s technology and sales operations.

Google offers eye-catching $100k Cloud Platform credit to startups
Google has offered an olive branch to eligible startups, promising them $100,000 (£61,500) in Cloud Platform credits to get their companies off the ground.
The initiative, with the does-what-it-says-on-the-tin name of ‘Google Cloud Platform for Startups’, was announced at the Google for Entrepreneurs Global Partner Summit and gives companies access to the search giant’s support team 24/7, as well as access to the firm’s technical solutions team.

Continuous delivery provider CloudBees has shifted its company focus, dropping the runtime platform as a service (PaaS) of its offering to focus exclusively on open source software Jenkins.
