American Idol, Blockbuster, and Microsoft 365: Innovate or Die

I attended the Microsoft Partner Conference last month in Los Angeles, CA, and there were two major topics during the week.  The first was the recent release of Office 365 which is the epicenter of Microsoft’s cloud computing vision.  The second was which Hollywood stars we would see, obviously.

Steve Jobs steps down as Apple boss after announcing iCloud

Apple CEO Steve Jobs has resigned from his post with his last announcement being the launch of the iCloud.

On Friday, Jobs resigned in a letter to employees despite hopes that he would resume his post full time following appearances at the launch of the iPad 2 and more recently, the unveiling of the iCloud. However having been on sick leave since January and undergoing a liver transplant he conceded that it was time to take a rest.

Acer reveals cloud intentions with $320m acquisition

The Taiwanese electronics manufacturing giant Acer looks about to embark on cloud odyssey of its own as after paying out around $320m for the little-known Silicone Valley-based firm iGware.
