How to botch a cloud migration in three easy steps – and how to remedy it

Today, the cloud is where everyone wants to be; there is no place like it, and nothing makes your clients happier. Okay, that may be a bit of a stretch – but it’s also fair to say that not everyone can dive into the cloud with their current architecture. Many times, it takes a complete re-engineering process in order to carry a company – or even a simple product – into any cloud.

Here are three areas to think about to ensure you do not carry out a disastrous cloud migration.

Rush it and think...

Cloud migration best practices: Preparing for change

When the moment comes that you decide it’s time to move your business to the cloud: rejoice! As my favorite Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi once said, “You’ve just taken your first step into a larger world.”

Your deciding factor to make the move might have been any number of things:

  • Cost
  • Need for growth
  • Flexibility
  • Keeping up the competition
  • Security
  • Productivity

But adapting your business for success in the cloud isn’t the easiest nut to crack. Some might think of it the way they would about moving from an old house to a new one: cram everything into a box, make the move, unload in your...

Commodity trading companies are rapidly switching from on-premise commodity trading and risk management solutions (CTRM) to cloud-based systems.  Research from Commodity Technology Advisory LLP shows that cloud-delivered CTRM solutions now outsell on-premise solutions and will significantly outpace spend on traditional deployments over the next five years.

Singapore overtakes Hong Kong to become strongest Asia Pacific cloud nation

The two regions have swapped places since the previous analysis two years ago, with New Zealand retaining bronze medal position, and Japan and Taiwan overtaking Australia. While the latter has slipped a couple of places in the rankings, ACCA said it was still a ‘strong regional contender’ which performed well in most areas but was...
