EMC beefs up its stake in VCE, buys out majority of Cisco’s share

EMC has announced it is to merge data centre biz VCE into its main organisation, buying out all but 10% of Cisco’s stake in the company.

The news comes weeks after EMC announced the buy of open cloud provider Cloudscaling, and can be seen as an advancement of the ménage a trois-esque relationship between EMC, VMware and Cisco in ownership of VCE.

EMC snaps up Cloudscaling, looks to expand in OpenStack markets

Tech giant EMC has bought open cloud provider Cloudscaling, according to reports, bolstering the firm’s push towards OpenStack.

The reports, which first surfaced in Bloomberg, gave little information regarding further details, but suggested that the deal was worth less than $50m.

Rackspace abandons takeover plans, appoints Taylor Rhodes as CEO

Open source cloud provider Rackspace has dismissed all merger and acquisition discussion to continue with its current independent trajectory – and has named Taylor Rhodes as new chief executive.

Rhodes joined Rackspace in 2007 and was appointed president of the company back in January. He takes over from Graham Weston, CEO from 1999 to 2006, who had temporarily held the fort since the shock retirement of Lanham Napier in February.

HP buys Eucalyptus to offer cloud compatibility products

NetSuite acquires e-commerce provider Venda for greater European investment

Cloudy ERP and CRM provider NetSuite has snapped up London-based e-commerce provider Venda in a move which signals a concerted effort by both companies for omnichannel commerce in the cloud.

TwinStrata gets snapped up by EMC as part of VMAX product shift

Cloud-integrated storage provider TwinStrata has been acquired by cloudy giant EMC as part of a shift of its VMAX product to more agile enterprise storage.
